Friends and Neighbors,

S.O.S.- Save Our Schools

Statewide bi-partisan education advocates organized a rally on the front steps of Juneau this week to show support for education funding. These supporters were asking for an adequate increase to the Base Student Allocation (BSA). Money that goes directly into the teaching of our students is the most important fundamental funding we can give.

Save Our Schools Rally - Feb. 17, 2014

The Governor proposed an increase to the BSA; however, it still is not enough. We can do more for our kids and we should.

TOMORROW- Public meeting to discuss community wildfire protection planning

The Alaska Division of Forestry and the Fairbanks North Star Borough will hold a public meeting at 7 p.m. on Feb. 18 at the Steese Fire Department Station #62, located at 585 Old Steele Creek Road, to discuss the Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) and fuels reduction projects in the Steese, North Star, and Chena-Goldstream fire service districts. The CWPP is a cooperative effort between state, federal, and private entities to promote fire safety in the wildland-urban interface.
