Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Today marks the first day of the 29th Alaska State Legislature and I am proud to be here representing the folks of Ester, Goldstream 1&2, Steese East/Gilmore, Steese West and University Hills. My priorities will be shaped by what I hear from my constituents as well as what happens as the session moves through. I am continually focused on lowering the cost of energy for the Interior, increased public education support, health care and retirement benefits and protecting the PFD, among many other issues important to our area.
With a budget shortfall it will be extremely important that legislators participate in smart budgeting by protecting what is working and not just blind cutting. I think that with increased communication from the Governor’s office, we can all pull together to get through the times ahead and work on smart solutions.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts on Alaska’s budget.
