Senate Bill 37 has one goal: To make sure vulnerable adults receive safe and quality care when in the care of adult service facilities.

As the population gets older, more and more people will turn to adult daycare centers to help when there's a health care crisis, or when mental or physical capabilities are greatly diminished. There are Adult Day Service Facilities popping up across the state. These facilities need to be monitored, before something terrible happens to a loved one.

Senate Bill 37 requires that providers be licensed. In order to get a license, the provider must provide proof the facility is safe, and employees have attended orientation and training programs. It also requires criminal background checks for both employees and volunteers. To make sure the standards are maintained, licenses would be up for renewal every other year.

The legislation makes it a requirement for providers to report suspected cases of abuse or neglect to Protective Services.
