House Bill 115 "Alaska Minerals Commission"
The Alaska Minerals Commission was established by the Alaska State Legislature in 1986 to make recommendations to the Governor and the Legislature on ways to mitigate constraints on the development of minerals in Alaska. Since that time, several of the Commission’s recommendations have been implemented to the benefit of the minerals industry and the state. Some recommendations that have been implemented are the passage of the Exploration Incentives Act in 1995, providing for more flexible work hours for miners in 1996, and funding for updated equipment in the Records Offices in 1998. The Alaska Minerals Commission is set to expire on February 1, 2004. House Bill 115 will extend the Alaska Minerals Commission until February 1, 2014.
