CBR Sweep Bill Passes State Senate JUNEAU – The Alaska Senate today unanimously passed Senate Bill 283, a bill offered by Senate Finance Committee member Senator Lyman Hoffman (D-Bethel). SB283 restores balance to subfunds in the FY04 budget. "I’m encouraged by the cooperation we received on the 'reverse sweep,'" said Senator Hoffman. "This is a bipartisan, good faith effort to remove any possible collateral damage caused by last year’s end of session vote to access the Constitutional Budget Reserve. This is a good starting point to this year’s budget negotiations." The bill restores balances to funds such as alcohol treatment programs, the Alaska Marine Highway Fund, the Railbelt Energy Fund, and the workers safety and compensation fund. Senate Bill 283 is cosponsored by members of the Senate Democratic and Republican caucuses. The bill heads now to the Alaska House of Representatives. ###
