Aging Adults: Is There Room for Us in Alaska? ANCHORAGE -- Representative Sharon Cissna will host a nonpartisan, statewide teleconference hearing on Friday, October 29, from 1 to 4 p.m., to highlight Alaska's social and economic relationship to seniors. This hearing, co-sponsored by Representative Lesil McGuire, Senator Johnny Ellis, and other legislators, will be an exploration of a subject pivotal to the long-term planning for both the state and so many Alaskans. Seniors, community members, academia, service providers and policy makers will discuss incentives, disincentives, and economics of aging in Alaska. Existing and future policy decisions necessary to ensure realistic responses to aging and diverse population will also be addressed (agenda attached). The hearings will be coordinated with video and audio connections throughout the state. The public is encouraged to participate at Legislative Information Offices in Barrow, Bethel, Fairbanks, Juneau, Ketchikan, Kodiak, Kotzebue, Mat-Su, Nome, Sitka, and Wrangell. Those affialiated with the University of Alaska are encouraged to participate from the campuses of UAA (Business Education Bldg., Room 117) and UAF (Rasumson Library, Room 341).
