Additional information: Letter to Governor Murkowski Davis Ellis ANCHORAGE - Senate Democratic Leader Johnny Ellis (D-Anchorage) and Senator Bettye Davis (D-Anchorage) sent Governor Murkowski a letter today asking him to persuade his Republican colleagues to allow drug importation from Canada. The letter states: "Prescription drug companies have marked up drug prices in the United States so high the only place seniors can find affordable drugs is by crossing the border and buying drugs in Canada." "This action, a necessity for many, is illegal in the United States. This is a problem that both Republican and Democratic political leaders in the United States recognize, and are fighting. Now it is your turn to join the fight," Senator Davis said today. "There is something wrong with the picture, when rich companies can move their operations across the border to save money, but America's seniors can't cross the border to buy life saving drugs at an affordable price," said Senator Ellis. Senators Ellis and Davis would like the Governor to use his clout with Republicans nationwide to make sure everyone can afford to buy life-saving drugs. ### | |
