Bill to Keep Motorists’ Eyes on the Road
Passes House Judiciary
 House Bill 12, sponsored by Representatives Max Gruenberg (D-Anchorage), Berta Gardner (D-Anchorage), Bob Lynn and Lesil McGuire, will prevent operators of motor vehicles from watching television, video, and any other programming by making it a crime. Furthermore the bill makes it a crime to install a device capable of being viewed while the vehicle is in operation. House Bill 12 now goes to the House Finance Committee.
Guess Bill on School Vandalism and Juvenile Restitution Passes Health Education and Social Services Committee
Senate Bill 10, sponsored [statement] by Senators Guess (D-Anchorage) and Dyson (R-Eagle River) will addresses both civil and criminal court processes for juveniles because the juvenile justice system handles most vandalism crimes rather than civil court. Allows the courts to make minors pay along with their parents, makes the minor responsible for any remaining debt when he or she turns 18, and requires the courts to use a payment plan to ensure parents and kids are able to afford repaying the debt. SB 10 now goes to Senate Judiciary.
