The Demo Memo is only broadcast in Anchorage at this point, but we hope it will be available statewide soon.

NEW WEBSITE PROVIDES DEMOCRATIC VISION
Alaska Democrats take a new message to the Internet:
Alaska can do better

JUNEAU - Alaska Democrats have launched a new website from the state capitol.

The site, at www.akdemocrats.org, highlights a new Democratic vision for Alaska and also provides a more accessible and easier-to-use platform for visitors. That vision is: Alaska can do better. Working for a safer, healthier, smarter and richer Alaska.

"Alaska Democrats have set a goal to work for a safer, healthier, smarter and richer Alaska," said Sen. Johnny Ellis (D-Anchorage), "and we want our website to be at the center of our efforts to communicate that vision." Ellis said the Democratic goals can only be achieved if Alaskans who share the same values work together.

"That's why communication is so critical," he said. "There's a common set of Alaskan core values, and we achieve our greatest accomplishments when Alaskans rally around those values and work together. The new website is one place where people can gather and share ideas."

The Democrat's new site is more open and efficient than the old one, and the main page focuses on the Democratic vision. By clicking on a value, such as "Safer," visitors are guided to a page dedicated to that value. On the interior pages visitors to the site will find Democratic initiatives and legislation related to that value.

There are also links to individual pages for each Democratic legislator, links to news releases, news letters and other information. Visitors will find links to B.A.S.I.S, the Legislature's tool for looking up and tracking legislation, and many other helpful features.

"The best way to learn about the site is to simply visit it," Ellis said. "We hope everyone will visit the site, bookmark us and let us know what they think."
