Spenard Road Update Dear Friends and Neighbors,
The project managers for the Spenard Corridor Plan would like to invite you to participate in their first community survey. The goal of the Spenard Corridor Plan is to improve Spenard Road and focus on transit-oriented development. Click HERE for a link to the survey. Spenard is a unique and diverse neighborhood. What started out as a “tent city” and a separate Municipality, Spenard is now the heart of Anchorage. There are several ways you can learn more and help make sure the Spenard Corridor Plan is a success: July 27 Public Workshop, Spenard Recreation Center (6:00pm-8:30pm) This public workshop will include presentations from the SCP project management team, small group work sessions that include interactive mapping of issues and opportunities, redevelopment opportunities and improvements to bicycle and pedestrian networks in the planning area. July 28 Guided Bicycle Tour, begin at Bosco’s (6:30pm – 8:30pm) This bicycle tour will be led by members of Bike Anchorage. We will be stopping at local businesses and various points of interest and concern. The tour will begin and end at Bosco’s Comic Book Store (2301 Spenard Rd), where refreshments will be provided. There are exciting things in store for Spenard and I can’t wait to see where our neighborhood goes in the future! Sincerely,
