NEWS FLASH!!!
House Bans Internet Hunting
Bob's bill to ban internet hunting passed the House today with a 39-0 vote, sending a message to cyber shooters everywhere that Alaskan game is off-limits.
Internet hunting is when a person anywhere in the world can shoot animals from their living rooms by hooking up their computers to a rifle through the internet and making a kill with the click of a mouse.
"This practice is not 'hunting.'" Bob told his fellow House members. "It is 'pay per view' slaughter. There is no sport in shooting animals while lying in bed wearing camouflage pajamas."
Fifteen members of the House signed on as co-sponsors to HB 220 when Bob brought the bill to the attention of the Legislature three weeks ago. Since then, it has moved through the House in record time, winning support from a wide spectrum of groups from the NRA to the Humane Society.
In keeping with a time-honored tradition where House members vote down a freshman legislator's first bill before approving it, the tally board on the House floor initially flashed 39nays. But moments before the final tally was locked, House members switched their votes to "aye", winning Bob's measure unanimous support and a round of applause from the floor and the galleries.
HB 220 now heads to the Senate.
